Mrs. "Madame" Kanitz has been teaching French in Dublin City Schools for seven years. She also taught two years at The Ohio State University while obtaining her masters in French Literature. At The Ohio State University, Madame Kanitz received the Graduated Associate Teaching Award, something less than 5% of all graduate students achieve at OSU. Her instruction is based on the process of second language acquisition, communication, and follows an input to output flow.
Madame has lived and studied extensively in France and Quebec and has been involved with four different French families. She participated in an exchange program in high school when she was 15 in Lyon, France. She was part of another exchange program in college when she was 18 where she lived in Tours, France. A few years ago, Madame lived with another host family in Québec, Québec while completing her graduate studies in French Literature. She also had a French exchange student stay with her for a summer when she was in high school. Being from Oxford, Ohio, home of Miami University, Madame was able to take her first French classes at the college level via the post-secondary option. To make a long story longer, French is life! :-)
Traveling to France and Quebec is something Madame does quite often for vacation and to catch up with friends and family. As her student, you will hear lots of cheesey stories about all of her French families and friends, so be prepared! Madame Kanitz LOVES teaching high school and helping students learn and become as successful as possible. Now a resident of Dublin, Madame is ecstatic to be a part of the Jerome family for another year. It is going to be a fantastic school year! On y va!
